Pongo and Perdita are two Dalmatians, who have a liter of 15 puppies, and they live with their human family, but the puppies get stolen by the evil Cruella De Vil and the adventure is on for Pongo and Perdita to rescue and save the puppies.

 

101 DALMATIONS is a fun contemporary Disney animated film which thankfully doesn’t rely on being a musical and it is a drama/ mystery/ family film.   You care about the variety of animals in this movie including the delightful trio of the horse, the Colonel dog, and Sgt Tibbs the cat.   The animation is very stylized and it was done quicker due to being able to Xerox the animation to speed up the process of getting the film animated which saved the Disney animation business at a time of crisis for Walt Disney as television was growing in popularity, but 101 DALMATIANS turned into one of Disney’s biggest animated hits of all time.

THE FURTHER ADVENTURES OF THUNDERBOLT- a new two minute animated short of the Thunderbolt character that the Dalmatians would watch on TV in one scene during the movie

LUCKY DOGS- this featurette has conversations with the surviving members of the Disney animated team who worked on 101 DALMATIANS as hey talk about the movie and their time working for Disney

WALT DISNEY PRESENTS “THE BEST DOGGONED DOG IN THE WORLD” (1961 VERSION) is a black and white episode of the TV series as Walt Disney talks about 101 DALMATIANS, the history of dogs, and a certain herd dog.

FINAL ANALYSIS:  101 DALMATIANS is a Disney animated classic for the whole family with a great selection of extras if you want to know about dogs and the making of the movie.
