The series finale of STAR
TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION visited the past
and future (a possible future) along with the present in a story that brought
back Q and Tasha Yar. Captain Picard
(Patrick Stewart) must find out what is causing him to time jump and the
mystery of a temporal rupture that exists in more than one time period.
ALL GOOD THINGS is one of
the most satisfying series finales of any STAR
TREK series despite the fact that the writers of the finale were also writing
the movie STAR TREK: GENERATIONS at the same
time. All other series finales seem to
fail in some way as they don’t bring a good conclusion to what came
before. It is interesting to see future
versions of the Enterprise D crew along with the way the show navigates three
different time periods without being confusing.
Picard is the navigator for our journey with the TNG TV show for one
last time. John DeLancie is perfect as Q
in this final love letter to THE NEXT
GENERATION TV show.
SPECIAL FEATURES:
Audio commentary by Ronal D. Moore and Brannon
Braga with
moderator Robert Lay (who produced the special features for the TNG blu-rays)
THE UNKNOWN POSSIBILITIES OF EXISTENCE: MAKING
“ALL
GOOD THINGS…”- a retrospective
documentary on the making of the series finale with Brannon Braga admitting
sometimes he and Ron would get confused on what script they were writing (the
series finale or the movie)
Episodic promos for Part 1 and 2 of the series
finale
Over seven minutes of deleted scenes (only included
on this
release and not on the season 7 blu-ray) including a subplot they cut out of
the finale
FINAL ANALYSIS: The disc features the best of
the STAR
TREK TV series finales with many extras exclusive to this release- recommended for
all NEXT GENERATION fans.
