CRUSH is a solid production. The twists are predictable while the cast and direction are quite good.
You could do worse for a rental, but CRUSH is the type of movie to discover on a rainy day and watch. Recovering high school soccer player Scott has a secret admirer, but an innocent crush soon turns deadly. Is it Bess the shy classmate who is playing with Scott’s life or is it someone
else? Could it be Jeffrey, who has an obsessive crush on Bess? Or is there someone else that everyone is overlooking as all fingers point to Bess who is a shy teenage
girl who watches as Scott passes her house on his morning run? CRUSH wisely
doesn’t show who could be doing it until the final minutes, but I guessed the outcome way before that and don’t
get me started on the cover which has a big spoiler. I wish they designed a different
cover that held more surprise to it. One can relate to how crazy emotions are for the
one you love or the one youhave a crush on. CRUSH ends up being subdued, underplayed, and predictable. The movie is just set for a rainy day rental.
SPECIAL FEATURES:
22 minute making of featurette takes a
look at the making of the film and mentions the writer of the script feels like he is a demented 12 year old girl trapped
in a guy’s body. This featurette has interviews with cast and crew in addition
to clips from the film and behind the scenes footage.
Also on the disc are previews for other
releases from Millennium Entertainment.
FINAL ANALYSIS: CRUSH is a predictable thriller which has a solid cast who can’t overcome the predictable plot twists. It is worth a one time rental and you will forget this OK film but I wish they didn’t
put spoilers on the DVD covert art.
