CYMBELINE is a boring mess.
The performances by the great cast of actors is mostly delivered flat
with a disjointed plot which feels like a cliff note’s version of a Shakespeare
play taking elements from better stories in the Shakespeare collection. Michael
Almereyida has created a beautiful
film to look at, but it is such a bore as the actors sleepwalk through their
performances with their vocal delivery. CYMBELINE combines the elements from
better Shakespeare plays like ROMEO AND
JULIET, TITUS, and 12TH NIGHT.
Ed Harris is the title character, a leader of a biker gang while Milla
Jovovich is his new Queen (second marriage) with his daughter Imogen being the
only daughter from his first marriage (for his sons were kidnapped years ago
and the Queen schemes to have one of her
son marry Imogen (who has already secretly married Posthumus. Please skip this
inferior tale of lovers, betrayal,
murder, and secret identities.
