Carl Lucas (Luke Goss) is hiding under
the identity of Frankenstein after everyone believed Lucas died in Death Race. Weyland
promises he and his team would get their freedom after Frankenstein wins five races.
However, Frankenstein ahs one race to go when Weyland’s company is taken over by another company that plans to
expand Death race. Soon Lucas and the team that believes Lucas is dead are thrust
into a cross country Death Race in the infernal Kalahari Desert in South Africa. The new boss wants Frankenstein to lose the race or he will kill his team. Lucas must plan an escape so that everyone can make it out alive.
DEATH RACE 3: INFERNO picks up from
where DEATH RACE 2 left off. It gives a good conclusion to the story started
in the previous film while bringing everything full circle to the start of the first DEATH RACE which DEATH RACE 2 and DEATH
RACE 3 are prequels to. It manages to up the ante with this desert race and even
the battle of the navigators is a nice touch. The two DEATH RACE prequels
make for good direct-to-video content which makes me wish the last RESIDENT EVIL film had good plotting like these two DEATH
RACE prequels. If they ever do another DEATH RACE film, they will have
to do a DEATH RACE film that takes place after the first one.
SPECIAL FEATURES:
Feature audio commentary with director
Roel Reine.
Seven deleted scenes and a deleted shots
montage show some scenes that would have made the movie longer (and showed it down despite some character development for
one racer is cut) and some deleted/ alternate shots with one brief exchange between Lucas and Katrina that they should have
left in the film.
THE MAKING OF DEATH RACE 3: INFERNO is
a 10 ½ minute promotional featurette that has a mix of behind-the-scenes footage, clips, and interviews.
FINAL ANALYSIS: DEATH RACE 3: INFERNO is a good follow up to DEATH RACE 2 which warps up the storyline of DEATH RACE 2
and bring it full circle to the start of the first DEATH RACE. The deleted scenes
are the best extra.
