Nolan (Grant Bowler) and Irisa (Stephanie
Leonidas) are
rescued out of status about seven months after the events of the season 2
finale. Their saviors are the mysterious
Omec (who are almost extinct and hated by the other alien races including Doc
Yewell who insists on having the Omec killed).
Meanwhile, Amanda Rosewater (Julie Benz) tries to hold together the town
of Defiance which is under imminent
threat from General Rahm Tak who wants to wipe the place off the face of the
Earth. Datak Tarr and Stahma Tarr have allied themselves with Rafe McCawley as
they all search for Alak Tarr, his son, and Rafe’s daughter.
Season 3 turns events on their head again as
the mysterious
Omec are definitely up to no good even though they seem friendly enough while
Datak and Stahma want nothing to do with Rahm Tak. The end of the first episode
ends drastically
while the end of episode 2 is the sign of trouble to come. Irisa is made
into a hero (as a legend has
grown about her during the months she and Nolan were missing) she isn’t as she
still feels guilty for the things she did last season (where she didn’t have
control of everything she did). I can’t
wait to see where this season goes as alliances form and more danger is on the
way. I just wonder if the romance
between Nolan and Amanda will pick up again.
It is nice to see the season 2 finale had effects on the world in
general. Season 3 is another game
changer while also bringing back some of the status quo like bringing Nolan and
Irisa back to Defiance once again
(even though they have been trapped nearby for months).
I do think fans will like season 3 of DEFIANCE
if they were a fan of the first two seasons.
The first two episodes are basically set up for the new season while
resolving the threads left behind from season 2. I hope people catch it
on Friday nights or
via On Demand because SyFy Friday is back with a vengeance. I hope they
don’t take the entire season to
deal with Rahm Tak looking to destroy Defiance
as another bigger threat is hinted at in the first two episodes.
