The direct-to-DVD sequel
picks up right after the end of QUARANTINE. An airplane crew and the passengers
are unlucky when one of them gets infected and thus begins the night where none may survive as Homeland Security quarantines
them to a terminal in Las
Vegas. One by one, they try to survive and not get
infected while hoping to find a way to escape quarantine.
QUARANTINE was decent enough,
but the sequel isn't worth buying. It has all the life of some of the sci-fi/
horror films that show up on SyFy's Saturday movie slate. It leaves nothing
to surprise as it telegraphs things and even tries to mislead you where the infection of the plague will come from (but I
figured it out within the first ten minutes). Then the characters just become
cannon fodder you don't get to know or feel like you know them. They are basically cardboard figures to fit this
lame script. The end result is an effort that is embarrassing compared to the original. It is more of a run around and escape the cat screeching infected who happen to move very fast
(like somehow it gives the infected more speed and a better sense of smell). QUARANTINE
2: TERMINAL is something to watch once and make you wonder why you rented it.
I think I will go watch the REC which inspired QUARANTINE (and maybe track down the sequel). There is nothing scary about this film and they fail to use the environment of the airport
terminal to amp the suspense and terror. It is a C grade sequel made
to cash in on the first film without giving thought to what made me watch the first one and why some regard REC as a good
horror film to be remade.
