THE COLONY takes place years after Earth
has been thrown in a worldwide ice age. The survivors live in underground
colonies with the common cold being their greatest enemy. Colony 7 receives an
SOS from Colony 5 and the leader of Colony 7 decides to take a three man team to investigate.
What they find there may bring hope for the future while something may also doom Colony 7 if they aren’t careful.
THE COLONY was done on a small budget of
$16 million Canadian, but the VFX and CGI is impressive while filming in a former NORAD underground base makes up for some
massive production value. It is definitely worth at least a rental to enjoy
the ride and soak in the visuals even though the villains are all so cliché (the second-in-command who questions the leader’s
position and the feral badass cannibal leader which makes you wonder how feral humans could survive a worldwide Ice Age).
SPECIAL FEATURES:
Behind-The-Scenes interviews with cast
and crew
Trailers for NUMBERS STATION, EVIDENCE,
and BLOOD
FINAL ANALYSIS: THE COLONY is a great action sci-fi thriller worth at least a rental which just ends too soon and could
have used better bad guys.
