On the eve of their return to Earth, one of the
members of
the first manned Mars mission discovers bacterial life on Mars. Soon,
the members of the Mars team are
fighting to survive until they can get rescued by their relief team on the Aurora
and not get infected.
THE LAST DAYS ON MARS is an intense sci-fi horror
movie that
manages to show the beauty of Mars against an atmosphere that gets more
terrifying along the way as you get sucked in with the struggles of the Mars
team as they fight to survive and get rescued.
Live Schreiber manages to quite brilliantly play a flawed astronaut who
is at the breaking point as some of the astronauts want to make a scientific
discovery of the lifetime while others will do anything to survive. The
production design and visual effects are
solid and help create a believable world where these flawed astronauts are
trying to survive on a planet where they are the only ones who can help
themselves with the nearest human assistance being millions of miles away. THE
LAST DAYS ON MARS is definitely better
than the often praise EUROPA REPORT. I
wish they make more sci-fi horror movies like this one.
