THE LAST SHIP takes place in a world decimated
by a global
pandemic. The first episode starts with
Rachel Scott’s mission to find a cure to a deadly virus and she is able to get
the Pentagon to assign a navel vessel commanded by Captain Tom Chandler (Eric Dane)
to find some primordial virus samples in the South Pole. After four months,
they find the virus has
been genetically engineered into a stronger killer and the world is thrown into
anarchy by the pandemic. Chandler’s
new mission is to make sure Rachel makes the cure to save the world that is
left.
THE LAST SHIP is a world that could be all too
real if a
global pandemic ever happened. The Earth
is a fragile place with the threat of viral terrorism being one of many
frightening possibilities. However, THE
LAST SHIP is also a tense thriller which gets better with each episode. Dane
plays a respected commander that his
loyal crew follows and this same commander wants to save the world so he can
get back to his wife and children. His
crew’s quest is to survive and get fuel and supplies of the ship while trying
to evade a rogue Russian admiral. The
first three episodes make me want to see what happens next and what challenges Chandler
and his crew will face next in a world on the brink. His crew shows great bravery
and heroism in
the face of whatever danger faces them.
I can’t wait to see where this show goes and how it will end.
