WORLD OF THE DEAD: THE ZOMBIE DIARIES picks
up from the first film falling a group of soldiers including one of the survivors from the first film (Leanne) who falls in
with the soldiers as they make a run for the coast after zombies overrun the British army outpost. They need to make it to Hope's Point to get to some boats before Operation Inferno goes into effect and
Maddox (the leader of the group) is keeping the information about the big operation from the group. In addition to fighting zombies, they are running from a group of bandits led by Goke (one of the
characters from the first ZOMBIE DIARIES).
WORLD OF THE DEAD is an intense sequel. Leeann is a tough survivor while you question what responsibility Jonesy has
in filming this (and to helping the others) as he is more interested in documenting the events (instead of helping the group
survive). Maddox is the leader and he tries to keep them together as a
group. He makes the tough calls. WORLD OF THE DEAD umps the ante
from the first ZOMBIE DIARIES which I think I will have to go rewatch and I think viewers of the sequel may get more out of
this film if they watch it with the first film. I can't wait for a sequel if they continue the ZOMBIE DIARIES series
and the final scene leaves it open (the only scene not shot in the video diary format).
SPECIAL FEATURES:
LIFE OF THE DEAD- the story behind how the sequel came about and how the success of the first film (and other video
diary films like CLOVERFIELD were responsible for making it happen). Also a little
about how unexpected weather like snow during the shoot added to the film.
SURVIVORS IN AN INFECTED WORLD- interviews
with the cast
SURVIVING THE DEAD- interviews with the military advisor and fight coordinator of the sequel with behind-the-scenes footage
of the military boot camp and fight rehearsals the actors went through.
FINAL ANALYSIS: WORLD OF THE DEAD is an intense sequel in THE ZOMBIE DIARIES series and I'm up for the next sequel if they
decide to continue.
