Baby (Ansel Elgort) suffers from a constant
ringing in the ears due to a car accident which killed his father and mother when Baby was a kid. He is a getaway driver who constantly plays music on various MP3 devices so he can drown out the
ringing in his ears. He meets a waitress named Debora (Lily James) and falls
for her. He thinks two more jobs for the mysterious kingpin named Doc (Kevin
Spacey) will make him even with Doc after his debt is paid, but Baby soon learns it is harder to get out and breaking away
from crime than he has ever imagined. He has to face off with the conflicting
egos of the crime gang (Jamie Foxx, Jon Bernthal, Jon Hamm and Eiza Gonzalez).
BABY DRIVER is easily Edgar Wright’s
best film as a director. It transcends the three wonderful movies he directed
that starred Simon Pegg. It is an energetic action heist film with a soundtrack
that drives many of the scenes. It
is expertly directed with a great cast and fairy tale logic mixed in with a noir and musical sensibility. The music plays as another character in helping propel scenes in the movie and even evoke the emotions
in some of them. Edgar Wright has created an instant masterpiece with BABY DRIVER. If you want a fun movie or even a great movie or a movie with a great soundtrack,
you should watch BABY DRIVER. It is easily one of the best films of 2017.
