Two petty thieves, Sean and Derek, are working as valet attendants for an upscale restaurant in Portland, Oregon. They make a side income by robbing the houses of the people they park the cars for. Sean (Robert Sheehan) breaks into the house of Cale Erendeich (David Tennant) one night only to find a girl gagged and chained in the home office. He also finds a room filled with torture tools and Sean is unable to save her right then. He regrets it and tries to do everything he can to find the girl and hopefully save her, but his actions have caught the attention of the OCD sociopath Cale who makes his business to ruin Sean's life and all of the people he loves.

David Tennant steals the movie from every actor with every scene he is in. He gives a brilliant performance as the OCD serial killer who wants to correct people as he leaves them as a prisoner before ultimately killing each victim. Robert Sheehan is OK as Sean, the struggling artist, and we don't really see enough of his character's talent as a photographer and I wish we saw more of his relationship with his girlfriend who basically serves as a way to develop Sean's character and push some plot points in the story. Dean Devlin delivers the best thriller I have seen in a while which takes inspiration from Alfred Hitchcock and Brian DePalma.

SPECIAL FEATURES:
The audio commentary with Director Dean Devlin and Writer Brandon Boyce detail the evolution of the movie from script to screen, what was changed for the movie, and how the weather of five snowstorms affected the shoot, what was cut from the movie (which are offered as deleted scenes), and other tidbits. It is a very informative track.

Seven deleted scenes include scenes cut for pacing and a couple of scenes that take place after the ending of the movie.

FINAL ANALYSIS: BAD SAMARITAN is a wonderful Hitchcockian thriller with a movie stealing performance from David Tennant. It is a worth at least one viewing along with the deleted scenes afterward.
