Henry Turner is looking for the legendary Trident of Poseidon to break the curse that is on Will Turner (Orlando Bloom), Henry's father and the Captain of the Flying Dutchman. While serving time on a British Royal Navy ship, Henry comes across a crew of undead sailors led by Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem) in the Devil's Triangle. Salazar is damned to be trapped in the Devil's Triangle and he wants revenge on the pirate who put him there, Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp). When Jack gives up his magical compass, it causes Salazar to be free of the Devil's Triangle and he starts his quest to find Jack leaving many dead pirates in his wake. Meanwhile, Henry searches for Jack as he believes Jack can help him find the Trident and he comes across an independent woman named Carina Smyth who is accused of being a witch. Henry teams up with Jack's band of dumb pirates to save Jack and Carina from being executed. They are soon on the open ocean as they are searching for the Trident with Salazar and the British Royal Navy on their tail.

PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES is a fun entry in the long running series. It sometimes feels like a throwback to the first one while also having a good continuity with the movies that came before this fifth entry. Geoffrey Rush feels like he is having fun still as Barbossa while Johnny Depp seems like he is coasting as jack Sparrow. Will Turner's son is the centerpiece of this movie and the actor's chemistry with the female lead is magnetic. The climax is heartfelt like the climax to the third Pirates movie. I do wish Orlando Bloom had more to do in this movie than appearing in two scenes. The end credits scene does hint at where a sixth Pirates movie will go. I know the producers say there will be no Pirates of the Caribbean without Depp, but maybe they can do without Jack Sparrow or have him more as a sidekick or supporting character. PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES is more fun than the last movie in the series and I hope they make the sixth movie soon.

SPECIAL FEATURES:
DEAD MEN TELL MORE TALES: THE MAKING OF AN ADVENTURE-
It is an eight part making-of documentary which can be played all together or as separate featurettes:
A RETURN TO THE SEA- talk about coming back to do the latest movie
TELLING TALES: A SIT-DOWN WITH BRANDON & KAYA- a chat with the new leads of the movie as they share their experiences of making the movie and how they got along with the cast
THE MATADOR & THE BULL: THE SECRETS OF SALAZAR & THE SILENT MARY- and interview with Javier Bardem and a look at how they used CGI to enhance the look of Salazar and create the look of the Silent Mary
FIRST MATE CONFIDENTIAL- the actor who plays Mr. Gibbs is the focus of this featurette
DECONSTRUCTING THE GHOST SHARKS- visual effects
WINGS OVER THE CARIBBEAN- how they used drones to capture the aerial shot sin the sequel
AN ENDURING LEGACY- cast and crew reflect on the impact the series has

Four deleted scenes which were cut for pacing reasons
Bloopers of the Caribbean is the standard gag reel of flubs and mistakes during takes (and actors having fun)
There is also a featurette on Jerry Bruckheimer's photography as it shows off some of the various portraits and candids he took during production of the movie

Also included in this combo pack is the movie in standard definition on DVD and a code to download/ stream a digital version of the movie

FINAL ANALYSIS: If you're a fan of the PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN series, you will want to see and maybe even own PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES. I do think it is a step up from the last sequel and I hope they have one more sequel to wrap things up. The extras are OK even though the making-of featurettes seem a little too much like promo fluff.
