Humanity is on its last legs
as a fungus has infected most
of the population and it turns them into flesh eating zombies known as
Hungries. A small group of children
infected by the fungus are being tested and experimented on at a military
base. The children are intelligent and
aware with a partial immunity to the fungus.
The Hungries overcome the base when force a small group with a child
named Melanie to escape.
THE GIRL WITH ALL THE GIFTS
is a new and refreshing take on
the zombie genre with ethical issues.
Does humanity have the right to survive if they have to experiment on
the fungus infected children to develop a vaccine? Is the fungus mutating
to become airborne
when the Hungries can’t infect people in the cities and towns when there is no
more food? Glenn Close is chilling as
the doctor who thinks she can develop a cure where Sennia Nanua gives an
outstanding performance as Melanie who learns to adapt to her new world where
it is in confinement or out in what’s left of the world.
