THE WITCH FILES is THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT meets THE CRAFT as this found footage/ faux documentary movie follows a teen girl named Claire (Holly Taylor) who is filming for a school news report for detention as she meets a group of girls who are invited by dark haired emo-ish teen Jules (Britt Flatmo) to an isolated place in the woods outside their boring Maine town to perform a witch chant because they want to learn how to do witchcraft. They soon learn how to control things in their lives through the power of magic chants, but they soon learn that using witchcraft has life changing consequences. Some of them want to stop using their new powers, but one member of this coven will do anything to continue using the powers of the witch.

THE WITCH FILES is an interesting take on the found footage genre with some good leads with Britt Flatmo being the standout as Jules. The movie makes good use of the locations and towns in the state of Maine where the movie was shot over 17 days. The ending even sets up for a sequel in true horror movie fashion.

FINAL ANALYSIS: THE WITCH FILES is an interesting addition to the found footage genre of horror. Britt Flatmo is the stand-out actor with Holly Taylor coming in at a close second. It is at least worth a rental if you either liked THE CRAFT, PARANOMRAL ACTIVITY, or BLAIR WITCH PROJECT.
