Blu-ray Review: HAPPY DEATH DAY

Bitchy sorority sister Tree wakes up with a hangover in a dorm room on her birthday. It is the start of a worst day ever for her as she repeats the day over and over again as a masked killer kills her (which resets the day). She goes down the list of suspects who may want her dead as she has wronged many men and women due to stealing boyfriends and having an affair with a married professor. As the time loop continues, the strain begins to weigh on her mentally and physically. She must find out who killed her and stop her death to end the time loop for good.

HAPPY DEATH DAY is a fun mix of horror, slasher film, Groundhog Day-type time loops, and humor. It manages to keep it fresh with presenting the same day over and over in different ways while delivering a few twists to this fresh horror movie.

SPECIAL FEATURES:
The alternate ending is best left on the cutting room floor except for the horror movie twist ending. The three deleted scenes are entertaining in their own right and were cut for pacing.

FINAL ANALYSIS: HAPPY DEATH DAY is an inventive mix of Groundhog Day-type time loops and horror in this twisty and entertaining thriller.
