On the day geologist Kristian Elkjord is leaving
for a new
job with an oil company, he sense something is wrong in the mountains of
Geiranger because the substrata is shifting.
The substrata under the mountain is a ticking time bomb waiting to cause
a rock slide which will result in a massive tidal wave that will destroy the
town in 10 minutes. THE WAVE is an intense
disaster film which shows the calm before, during, and after disaster of a
disaster that has happened in Norway before and will happen again (in a matter
of time). THE WAVE
is a low budget disaster movie compared to the over-the-top disaster movies of Hollywood,
but it works in its favor since it has to rely more on character and less on
over-the-top drama. The movie shows
that sometimes the lead characters can’t save someone except for themselves no
matter how hard they try.
