Peter Quill aka Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) is helping to protect the Sovereign with his fellow Guardians of the Galaxy. They accomplish their mission by killing the energy eating beast in exchange for Nebula (Karen Gillian), but soon the Sovereign are after them because Rocket decided to kidnap some batteries. They are saved by Star-Lord’s dad Ego (Kurt Russell) and some of the group goes with Ego to his planet. Meanwhile, the Sovereign hire Yondu (Michael Rooker) and his Ravager band to capture Peter and his team.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 is a dumb fun space opera comedy which has plenty of comedic scenes (Rocket being called a trash panda, Baby Groot bring the wrong object to a prison cell over and over), scenes that defy scientific reality, and cameos from Sylvester Stallone as Yondu’s former Ravager teammate to Howard the Duck to Stan Lee as a stranded astronaut telling stories to the Watchers. It is a very enjoyable sequel even though I enjoyed the first film more, but my problems lie with the sequel being too standalone, some sequences being there for comedy’s sake instead of serving a stronger story, not having more connective tissue to AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR, and the stupid Baby Groot dance scene during the opening credits which takes away from the fight sequence in the background which I rather be watching. Make sure to stay through the credits for all five post credit scenes along with the “I am Groot” text that transforms into end credits text (along with the disclaimer no raccoons or baby trees were harmed and yet no guarantee for the safety of the trainers). I would definitely watch the sequel again and can’t for the sequel which will hopefully have the original Guardians of the Galaxy team showing up an d a certain Adam Warlock finally making his appearance (but the next appearance from the Guardians of the Galaxy will be in AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR).
