Viktor, a young architect, wakes up in a dream world made from people's memories. It is a world where people have certain
powers and must protect themselves from nightmarish creatures known as Reapers. He tries to remember who he is after a car
accident has put him in this coma. Every person in this dream world is also in a coma and it is a world where the laws of
physics don't apply. He and the people in this coma world are searching for a place safe from the Reapers.
COMA (aka KOMA) is a very visually interesting Russian sci-fi/ fantasy movie. The special effects match anything you
would see in a movie like INCEPTION. A good cast and a great visual dream world will keep you watching COMA despite a script
that is weak at times. The pacing also keeps the movie alive and it is at least worth a rental (and maybe even a buy for
fans of movies like INCEPTION and DREAMSCAPE).
SPECIAL FEATURES:
Four short featurettes which are each under two minutes:
CGI, THE CHARACTERS, LOVE, THE WORLD OF COMA which take a look at the CGI, characters, story, and world of the movie
Theatrical trailer for COMA which has no subtitles and it is in Russian. Playing before the main menu is a trailer for
ATTRACTION 2: INVASION
FINAL ANALYSIS: The visual effects, the sequences in the coma world, and the reapers are what holds COMA together despite
any flaws in the script. It is at least worth a rental for any sci-fi fan. I do wish the blu-ray did have more extra instead
of just brief extras and a trailer with no subtitles.
