SYNOPSIS:
After monsters take over the world, Joel (Dylan O'Brien, The Maze Runner) and the rest of humanity are forced to live underground. Believing he's lost everyone he has ever loved, Joel finds his high school sweetheart Aimee (Jessica Henwick) living just 80 miles away. Facing unknown dangers that stand in his way, Joel must discover his inner hero as he makes the impossible journey across a monster-infested land to be with the girl of his dreams.

ANALYSIS:
LOVE AND MONSTERS is an enjoyable movie. LOVE AND MONSTERS have the right mix of comedy and drama with a great cast making the most of their scenes. I wish Michael Rooker and Ariana Greenblatt had more screen time as Clyde and Minnow because their characters really outshine Dylan O'Brien in every scene. I would love to see these two actors in another movie. I would have had no problem seeing this in a theater or owning it on blu-ray. I hope there is a sequel in the future, but the pandemic made Paramount release it on Premium Video ON Demand before releasing it on Blu-ray and DVD two months later. Redbox got an exclusive window to rent it two weeks before it hit retail in store and via online retail.

SPECIAL FEATURES:
Six deleted scenes (11:59) that add some character development, but I can also see some were cut for pacing and time.

FINAL ANALYSIS: LOVE AND MONSTERS is a fun sci-fi drama that you can either rent or buy. I hope there is a sequel because I would love to visit the characters again.
