VERDICT: Even though it is better than the adaptation of BRIDGE TO TAREBITHIA, you might be better off reading the book despite
scenery chewing performances from Eccleston and McShane. Just good enough to pass 90 minutes if you have nothing better to
see.
THE SEEKER: THE DARK IS RISING is beautiful to look at. However this adaptation of Susan Cooper's THE DARK IS RISING lacks
urgency and danger. Christopher Ecleston and Ian McShane make the most of their roles as they chew teh scenery and steal
the movie from everyone else. Walden Media miscalculated witha terrible script. A good script would have meant a franchise
because there are more nnovels after THE DARK IS RISING. I do share the wonder of a kid who gets the chance to be something
more and save the world. I just wish they could have made it much more interesting. A friend of mine says it bored her.
It is a better adaptation from Walden Media compared to BRIDGE TO TERABITHIA which I didn't like at all. If they want
to cash in on the coat tails of Harry Potter, they better come up with better writers when adapatating novels. More detailed
review to follow soon.
