AFTER BLUE: DIRTY PARADISE is a psychedelic sci-fi witch western with some lesbian undertones. It is a very interesting movie to watch for two hours on a world where only women survive and men died out quickly (but I wonder if they just mutated into the weird creatures that interact with the women). AFTER BLUE has interesting set design that evokes movies like ANNIHILATION and STALKER with many of special effects and atmosphere settings shot in camera. In this future on a faraway world, wild teenager Roxy aka Toxic (Paula Luna) finds a dangerous woman assassin named Kate Bush (I wonder what singer Kate Bush thinks of this one). She frees Kate Bush from her prison where she is buried up to her head in sand on the beach. Soon her hair stylist mother Zora (Elina Lowensohn) is tasked by the village elders to hunt down Kate Bush and shoot her. Roxy and her mother undertake a journey where they find an alpha female artist while they wait for Kate Bush to return to her hideout in the mountains.

AFTER BLUE is a movie for art house movie fans. It is a sci-fi cult film that your typical sci-fi might not like due to how strange it is and some might be put off with the lesbianism in it. It is in it's own unique world and I might have to rewatch it sometime.

SPECIAL FEATURES:
J'AI TUE KATE BUSH- a reel with unseen footage from the movie set to new music by Pierre Desprats. It is interesting to watch to see what deleted scenes exist for this movie

FINAL ANALYSIS: AFTER BLUE is a trippy sci-fi female Western that is surreal with some moments of lesbianism. If you're looking for a sci-fi art film or enjoy art films, AFTER BLUE is one to check out. If you're expecting a traditional movie, you will probably want to skip this one.
