MOVIE ANALYSIS:
HALLOWEEN ENDS is the sequel that no HALLOWEEN fan wanted. It is that bad. It throws in elements from other movies such
as LOST RIVER, FRIDAY THE 13TH movies, and more to make a sometimes boring and sometimes terrible mess with only the kill
scenes showing some signs of life for this movie. However, even the kill scenes sometimes disappoint compared kill scenes
in the previous 12 HALLOWEEN movies. I don't know how Blumhouse and Universal Pictures allowed David Gordon Green to direct
this movie without a rewrite or telling him he needs to write a new script. Heck, even remaking Rob Zombie's HALLOWEEN 2
and rewriting it to fit this trilogy would be better than the worst HALLOWEEN movie ever made. What were they thinking when
they made this trilogy ender. HALLOWEEN 2018 was great. HALLOWEEN KILLS had it's moments despite sidelining Laurie Strode
for most of the movie and cutting out the original ending which would have set up a better sequel than the crap we got.
HALLOWEEN ENDS makes the Thorn trilogy (HALLOWEEN 4, HALLOWEEN 5, and HALLOWEEN: THE CURSE OF MICHAEL MYERS) seem like classics.
This is how bad HALLOWEEN ENDS is. If you want to torture yourself or have a drinking game formed around the bad clichés
and such in HALLOWEEN ENDS, go watch it on Peacock and avoid the price of a theater ticket. Better yet, you might want to
go watch any other HALLOWEEN movie again other than one viewing of HALLOWEEN ENDS and imagine how you would have wanted this
trilogy to end. Corey is a character they created with a whole arc that I don't really care about. It is nice to see Laurie
moved on with her life, but I rather have seen the movie that the alternate ending of HALLOWEEN KILLS sets up (you can see
that ending on the extended cut of HALLOWEEN KILLS).
I like the HALLOWEEN series, but I love it when it is excellent like the first two HALLOWEEN movies and the 2018 HALLOWEEN.
I even likes the Thorn trilogy of HALLOWEEN 4, 5, and 6 (the Producer's Cut which is more John Carpenter-esque than the theatrical
cut). I even enjoyed the rob Zombie version of HALLOWEEN through the two movies he did. However, I hate it when the formula
goes wrong with a HALLOWEEN movie like the movie we see with HALLOWEEN ENDS. It went in a different direction, but I rather
have seen more kills from Michael and not have it be a love story between a troubled kid who goes down a dark path and Laurie's
granddaughter who just ends up horny instead of the strong female character she was in HALLOWEEN 2018 and HALLOWEEN KILLS.
Michael Myers seems really out of character in this movie compare to how they portray him in the other HALLOWEEN movies.
I don't believe for a second that he would be moping in a sewer system for four years and only killing those who get close.
I just wonder what Blumhouse and Universal was thinking when this movie was being made. Didn't they even give notes on the
script before this movie went to production knowing the mixed reactions to HALLOWEEN KILLS?! I wish Universal had more oversight
over the scripts before they let projects like HALLOWEEN ENDS and THE MUNSTERS were made. HALLOWEEN and THE MUNSTERS are
properties that need a little guidance despite how great you think the filmmakers are from their past projects. A little
fixing on both in pre-production and some reshoots would have made both films better instead of the movies that will disappoint
many fans. Unless you do something like the underrated HALLOWEEN: SEASON OF THE WITCH, You have to give fans what they want
to a degree like Michael Myers going on a killing spree and work within those confines to make something new. David Gordon
Green did something excellent with the 2018 HALLOWEEN while HALLOWEEN KILLS was a mixed bag. However, HALLOWEEN ENDS needed
to be better than what we received. Some fans may like the change, but many fans will hate it.
Now for the full spoiler review and I did warn you if you want to click off this page now.
HALLOWEEN ENDS begins with a pre-credits sequence of where a teenage babysitter, Corey Cunningham, accidentally kills
a young boy who locks him in the upstairs closet. Then the movie flashes three years later where the town views this young
man as a psycho to bully while some others blame Laurie for the killing spree of Michael Myers. Corey gets involved with
Laurie's daughter Allyson and Laurie doesn't approve of it because she starts to see the eyes of Michael Myers in this man.
After a Halloween party, Corey bumps into Michael Myers in a sewer tunnel after being dragged there by Michael. Michael
gets psychic impressions of Corey's troubled past and soon Michael has a disciple who kills for him and kills with Michael.
Michael Myers is in this movie too little and he doesn't even start killing until halfway through. The big rematch between
Michael and Laurie is a disappointment which ends in a funeral procession to the junkyard where they grind up Michael's body.
Now I will back away from the spoilers and hope the next version of HALLOWEEN gets us away from the turd which is HALLOWEEN
ENDS and the mess that was HALLOWEEN KILLS (which has some great kills from Michael Myers). I had high hopes for this sequel
and I hoped it would correct the mistakes of HALLOWEEN KILLS, but unfortunately they double downed on what made the last sequel
bad and made a trilogy ender that was even worse and sometimes even boring. Watch on Peacock (or just rent the movie at the
RedBox) and you may want to have a drinking game to go on with this movie too.

FINAL ANALYSIS: HALLOWEEN ENDS is a terrible way to end the trilogy as I say the last one should have focused more on
Michael and Laurie and not introducing a new character that I don't care about while going against what made the main characters
shine in HALLOWEEN (2018) and HALLOWEEN KILLS. The extras aren't bad, but I wish Universal and Blumhouse reigned in David
Gordon Green (a thing Universal should have done with THE MUNSTERS movie with Rob Zombie).
