CIVIL WAR falls in the camp of a great Alex Garland film. Some of his movies or scripts for Danny Boyle films start out great only to have the shift in the second half to be a mixed bag. CIVIL WAR is a solid picture just like his previous movie. The plot follows a group of photo journalists covering a Second US Civil War as you see the war through their eyes. It is an interesting way to give you eyes into what a fictional second US Civil War could look like and how people in it and on the sidelines deal with it.

SPECIAL FEATURES:
Charles De Lauzirika delivers a great six part making-of documentary called TORN ASUNDER: WAGING ALEX GARLAND'S CIVIL WAR. It isn't in my top five making-of documentaries by Charles, but it is still better than many making-of documentaries you see on blu-ray releases these days. It is great to see him making another making-of documentary.

Also included in the extras is the film's theatrical trailer. You also get the movie on blu-ray and the extras are the same on the 4K UHD disc and blu-ray. There is a code for a digital copy of CIVIL WAR too

FINAL ANALYSIS: CIVIL WAR is a masterpiece by writer/ director Alex Garland, but it also serves as a cautionary tale of what a second civil war could do to the USA. The making-of documentary is also great work from Charles de Lauzirika too.
