STONE COLD is one of those fun 1990s action movies I may have watched on VHS and cable back in the 1990s, but I don't remember
watching it type of movies. So for all purposes, this viewing on blu-ray feels like my first time watching STONE COLD. STONE
COLD started out as an action movie with depth called HEART OF STONE. The original director left the movie after a few weeks
of filming due to personal reasons and a new director was brought in. The script changed from an action revenge story to
a standard 1990s action movie. Brian Bosworth plays suspended cop John Stone who is recruited by the FBI to go undercover
and become part of the biker gang known as the brotherhood. The Brotherhood is led by Chains (Lance Henriksen) and his right
hand man Ice (William Forsythe). They are responsible for the murder of a judge after putting away one of the Brotherhood's
own for murder. Stone finds out the Brotherhood is putting together a deal to fund a rescue of their convicted member.
He falls for Chains old lady (Arabella Holzberg). STONE COLD has lots of great actors and action within a movie that many
bikers say accurately displays biker culture (with many actual biker members among the cast of the movie and doing many of
the motorcycle stunts).
STONE COLD is an entertaining 90 minute distraction of action with some good actors including Lance Henrikson and William
Forsythe chewing the scenery and making the most out of their roles. If you're a fan of this movie or even just action movies
from the 1990s, I say you should give STONE COLD a watch on blu-ray.
SPECIAL FEATURES:
Audio Commentary with Action Film Historian Mike Leader and Arne Venema as they talk about the production of STONE COLD
THE BOZ GOES HOLLYWOOD- Interview with Star Brian Bosworth as he recalls how he ended up getting cast, the production
(and how the story changed after the original director left), and the movie he did after STONE COLD. He also talks about
the stunts and the change in location for the climax (and the helicopter that flew really low in the streets)
THE BROTHERHOOD- interview with Actor Lance Henriksen as he talks about working on STONE COLD
BREAKING FREE- Interview with Actress Arabella Holzbog who talks about her character and how her character's fate changed
after the original director left the film
PLAYING STRAIGHT- interview with Actor Sam McMurray as he talks about his character and the ending of the movie
Several of the original TV spots and the original theatrical trailers are included on this disc. The sad thing about
this release is that there are no deleted scenes as I wonder what got cut from the movie during production after they switched
directors.
Reversible cover art for the blu-ray case if you want something different from the slipcover
FINAL ANALYSIS: STONE COLD is pure 1990s action enjoyment. If you are a fan of this movie or 19980s/ 1990s action movies,
this blu-ray is a must own. Lots of great extras about the production and great interviews with trailer/ TV spots make this
another great release form Kino Lorber Studio Classics.
