HIGHLANDER is an amazing fantasy action adventure with some elements of romance. It is a cult classic that none of the sequels got close too except for the TV series. They never could replicate the special kind of magic with the four sequels (with the first being the so-bad that it's good mess known as HIGHLANDER 2). The movie revolves around immortal Connor MacLeod (Christopher Lambert) who has been in a fight to the death with other immortals until there is only one for the prize. He is befriended by Juan Ramirez (Sean Connery), another immortal who becomes his friend and teacher. The evil Kurgan (Clancy Brown) has been hunting MacLeod over the centuries until there is an epic showdown to the death in modern day New York City. HIGHLANDER goes back and forth in time to show the history of Connor MacLeod and the ones connected to him. It is a cult classic with a great score mixed with songs by the rock band Queen.

FINAL ANALYSIS: The HIGHLANDER Director's Cut will look the best it ever will with this 4K restoration and the release has some great new extras including the making-of retrospective documentary. The steelbook design is beautiful because there can be only one. If you love HIGHLANDER, you will want to own this version of the movie and upgrade to the 4K UHD release.
