THE MARSH KING'S DAUGHTER is the latest movie to be adapted from a novel. It is a worthwhile thriller worth one watch whether you buy, rent it, or stream it on Netflix. I do think the movie could have been a little longer to flesh out the characters a little more, but THE MARSH KING'S DAUGHTER reminds me of a 1990s thriller looking to cut the fat to make a slim thriller even if it meant cutting some character development and subplots. It sets up a story in the first 20 minutes of a daughter named Helena being trained to survive by her father (Ben Mendelsohn) in the marsh, but that all changes when her mother sees an opportunity to escape with her daughter. Her father follows and he is captured by the police. Flash forward to twenty years later with Helena (Daisy Ridley) grown up with a husband and daughter. The plot is thrust forward when her father dubbed as the Marsh King violently escapes custody when he is being transferred to another prison. Helena worries he will come to find her because he made a promise to find her when he got out.

FINAL ANALYSIS: THE MARSH KING'S DAUGHTER is worth at least one watch whether you buy it, rent it, or stream it on Netflix. The cast makes it a good thriller to pass the time, but it could have been a little longer to develop the characters a little more.
