THE MOON is a great sci-fi space thriller that it matches up there with THE MARTIAN and APOLLO 13. It focuses around a manned
mission to the moon by South Korea. Things go wrong in orbit around the moon as people back home in Korea and at NASA race
against time to rescue the surviving astronaut after he decides to land on the moon. Great production design and visual effects
back an almost perfect sci-fi movie that is meant for people who like movies such as APOLLO 13 and THE MARTIAN and TV shows
like FOR ALL MANKIND (especially if you're waiting for season 5). THE MOON is another solid movie from the South Korean film
industry with excellent direction by Kim Yong-Hwa. The only flaw in the plot is having a character who isn't totally trained
to be there and he is the son of the scientist who committed suicide after the failure of the first Korean mission to the
moon. Those little flaws can be overlooked since the melodrama help to add to the plot and excitement of the plot. You have
a former mission director who has ties to the failed moon mission brought in to help the current mission control team to bring
the astronaut back. A little politics between NASA and the Koreans add to the drama as the astronaut wants to complete the
mission despite the additional danger he will be put in.
