4K Blu-ray Review: STREETS OF FIRE

STREETS OF FIRE is a great little cult movie I discovered on cable in the 1990s. It takes place in an alternate Chicago of the 1950s where Rock and Roll has already taken home. It is a movie that took time for it to find its audience and Universal didn't know how to promote it when it first came out. It has since found its audience through home media (VHS, DVD, blu-ray) and cable TV.

PRESENTATION:
The movie is presented in two formats: in 4K Ultra HD on Disc One and in 1080p High Definition on Disc Two. The extras are on Disc Three

SPECIAL FEATURES:
SHOTGUNS AND SIX STRINGS: THE MAKING OF A ROCK N' ROLL FABLE- This is one of two great feature length documentaries that features new and old interviews with cast and crew with plenty of clips and behind-the-scenes footage. Both making-of documentaries follow the movie from pre-production through production to how Universal botched the promotion for it and how it became a cult classic in the years since it originally came out.

RUMBLE ON THE LOT: WALTER HILL'S STREETS OF FIRES REVISITED- The other excellent feature length documentary features some overlap with the other documentary, but it is also worth a watch if you're a fan of STREETS OF FIRE

Vintage Featurettes-that are in standard definition quality and features interviews from the cast and crew. They're used to sell the movie.

FINAL ANALYSIS: STREETS OF FIRE looks great in 4K. It is a great cult movie for long time fans and first time viewers. Two great making-of documentaries are included on the third disc and are the best extras on the edition. I hope Shout Factory does get the physical media rights to the unofficial unreleased sequel, ROAD TO HELL directed by the late Albert Pyun.
