HALLOWEEN KILLS picks up right where 2018's HALLOWEEN ended after a flashback prologue to 1978 where Michael Myers was captured by the police. Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) ends up in the hospital while her granddaughter wants to do something to stop Michael when it is learned he has escaped the fiery trap that Laurie set for him. Michael goes on a new killing spree as he makes his way back to the place where it all started. Meanwhile, Tommy Doyle (Anthony Michael Hall) wants to gather a group of people to track down and kill Michael.

HALLOWEEN KILLS is the disappointing follow-up to the revisionist sequel which came out in 2018. It was delayed for a year by COVID-19’s effects on the movie industry. The opening flashback scenes are nice to see and some of the other survivors returning from the original John Carpenter film. HALLOWEEN KILLS works as a look at mob justice, but sometimes it falls short as Laurie (Jamie Lee Curtis) is sidelined to the hospital for the movie and she got more to do in the original HALLOWEEN II when she was in the hospital. Michael Myers decides to up his killing spree with some gory kills, but this sequel is basically on par with HALLOWEEN 5 and HALLOWEEN: THE CURSE OF MICHAEL MYERS theatrical cut. After seeing this movie on Peacock, I would have been fine if 2018's HALLOWEEN was the last movie, but the big box office meant they wanted to make more. I wish they had come up with something better that the end result of HALLOWEEN KILLS. It wasn't a bad movie, but I feel it won't have strong watchability.
