DOORS feels like a movie made during the COVID-19 times. It is split up into three stories: LOCKDOWN, KNOCKERS, and LAMAJ.
It introduces some interesting ideas and I wish they could have explored the universe more. PORTALS is a similar movie which
has the same frustrating problems. Maybe it is time and budget limitations which lead to DOORS being a fascinating and yet
frustrating sci-fi horror anthology film. I would love to see the characters and ideas more fleshed out. DOORS would probably
work better as an anthology TV series instead of a film. Each story ends as soon as you start to get a grasp on who the characters
are and I feel the anthology barely touches the surface of the ideas in this movie where PORTALS did go a little deeper (even
though not too much deeper). The anthology movie is well directed with some excellent shots in the cinematography (my favorite
being the Knockers walking on the beach in KNOCKERS). I just wish each segment was a little longer and the bridging segments
leave a lot to be desired.
SPECIAL FETAURES:
Only extras are the trailer for DOORS and trailers for other epic Pictures releases: THE MAID, THE WINTER LAKE, ACRIFICE,
BLEED WITH ME, SLEEPLESS BEAUTY, and THE CURSE OF AUDREY EARNSHAW
I would have loved an audio commentary and even a featurette on how this movie came about was made.
FINAL ANALYSIS: DOORS is a movie I really wanted to enjoy more, but it comes off as underdeveloped with some fascinating
ideas that I wish they could have explored more. I do wish the disc did have some extras on the making of the movie.
