WEREWOLVES revolves around the concept that a super moon one night turns anyone exposed to moonlight into bloodthirsty werewolves. It has been one year since that first incident and another super moon is upon the world as it prepares for another night of hell. A team led by Wesley Marshall (Frank Grillo) attempts to understand why it is happening and they have developed something called moon screen to protect people from the moon's effects. He feels guilty having to leave his brother's family (a mother and he daughter) and he has instilled rules to help protect them along with the usual home defenses. behind at home The experiment only lasts for a limited time and the research team finds itself under siege by werewolves. Wesley and Dr. Amy Chen (Katrina Law) flee as they rush to Wesley's home to protect his family from werewolf attacks in the neighborhood.

The biggest problem I found with WEREWOLVES is they don't try to explain why the super moon turns people into werewolves upon exposure. It would have been better to explain it only affects a part of population and not everyone. Then you have a couple of concepts they introduce to only let them drop minutes later. The moon screen concept is interesting, but they break that by saying the spray is overheating and they need tit to cool down. WEREWOLVES is like THE PURGE with werewolves. However, I wish they took the time to explain the mythos more and lean more into the B movie concept of it. I wanted it to be a little more fun instead of the half baked serious affair it ended up as. Also the character development is kept at a minimum where it could have been a little more fleshed out to get me more invested in the story.

SPECAIL FEATURES:
The only extras on the blu-ray are a selection of deleted scenes which are cut for pacing, but they do feature some extra character moments in some of them. Included in the case is a digital code to stream an HD copy of WEREWOLVES.

FINAL ANALYSIS: WEREWOLVES is fun to watch once for 90 minutes. I do wish the story was more thought out and had more layers. I also wish it had more extras than the deleted scenes.
