Season six of CSI is a better one than season 5, but the character development for the personal lives of our main CSIs
are bad as usual. PIRATES OF THE THIRD REICH is one of my favorites while the two part season finale pales compared to season
5's GRAVE DANGER. A BULLET RUNS THROUGH IT is an overrated two parter. Despite many people not liking the big reveal that
Grissom and Sarah are a couple, I think that is the only personal relationship with the characters I like this season. Greg's
marriage plot line is flat while the threads coming out of GRAVE DANGER end up being disappointing in the end as well. KILLER
takes an interesting turn as it features the episode from the killer's POV. Season 6 is uneven, but it gives one of the CSIs
from last year a new role as a detective. I hope they use Sophia to great affect in seasons to come.
VIDEO: 1.78:1 (Anamorphic Widescreen)
AUDIO: English 5.1, Spanish 2.0 Dolby Digital Surround
Subtitles: English Close Captioning
No complaints about the video or audio. They are on par with the excellent presentations of the episodes on the season
4 and 5 DVD sets.
SPECIAL FEATURES:
7 audio commentaries were recorded for six episodes. The two for A BULLET RUN THROUGH IT PART 1 should have been edited
together since both have large gaps of silence. The audio commentary for Part 2 is better. The only actor to be featured on
an audio commentary for season 6 is George Eads.
SHOOTING STARS with Danny Cannon
GUM DROPS with Sarah Goldfinger and Richard J. Lewis
A BULLET RUNS THROUGH IT PART 1 with Carol Mendelsohn and Rich Catalani and separate track with Danny Cannon
A BULLET RUNS THROUGH IT PART 2 with Carol Mendelsohn and Kenneth Fink
KILLER with Naren Shankar, Dustin Lee Abraham, and Kenneth Fink
POPPIN' TAGS with Dustin Lee Abraham and actor George Eads
All the featurettes can be found on disc 7-
THE SCIENCE OF SOUND take a look at the post production sound process for A BULLET RUNS THROUGH IT PART 1.
GADGETS & GIZMOS- six featurettes on tools used in the show (BORESCOPE WITH FIBEROPTIC CAMERA, FORENSIC BUDDY, SCANNING
ELECTRON MICROSCOPE, NICOLET ALMEGA (LASER ABLATOR), CAMLITE, MICRO FTIR).
CORONER REPORTS have the actors in the coroner's room talk about their four favorite moments in season 6.
APPARENT CAUSE OF DEATH shows how an actor is made up to look like a corpse on the autopsy table.
SEASON SIX TRAJECTORY talks about the character development in season six (I love the part about Grissom and Lady Heather
the best).
THE NEW TITLE SEQUENCE talks about how season 6 is the first to feature a nice looking title sequence and shows an early
attempt at a new title sequence.
FINAL ANALYSIS: Season 6 of CSI has great episodes and some overrated ones. I hope the cast is more active in audio commentaries
for season 7 and we finally get some deleted scenes. I do think they can split the featurettes across the first six discs
instead of having a seventh disc for 45 minutes of bonus material (excluding audio commentaries).
