DISTRICT 13: ULTIMATUM takes place
three years after DISTRICT B13. The wall is still up around B13. A group of corrupt cops and elected officials hatch a plan to get District B13 evacuated by causing tension
between the drug lords in B13 and the police. The group of cops and politicians
want to cash in on redeveloping District 13. They first have to get Detective
Damien Tomasso (Cyril Raffaelli) out of the way by framing him for a crime he didn’t do.
What the group of corrupt DISS people (DISS stands for Department of Internal State Security) doesn’t count on
is vigilante Leito (David Belle) who teamed up with Tomasso before. Leito
has a recording of DISS killing cops that were used as a plant to start tensions in B13.
DISTRICT 13: ULTIMATUM is based on the
standard formula of enjoyable action you see in any people that producer Luc Besson has a hand in writing the script for (Besson
has also co-written the TRANSPORTER films and TAKEN in addition to directing THE FIFTH ELEMENT and LEON THE PROFESSIONAL). This sequel is entertaining in the way of a big budget B-movie action film. The crime bosses of B13 are interesting characters by the way the actors put in their
performances. The script isn't going to win any awards. The action scenes are the highlight of this film.
It is popcorn action porn. The actors hyped the sequel being better
than the original, but I rather like the original a little bit better.

MAKING OF DISTRICT 13: ULTIMATUM is a well-produced
making of a sequel from what the two main actors brought to the film- David Belle (Pakour Stunts) and Cyril Raffaelli (Action
Stunts and even coming up with a cool stunt for David to do)- to car stunts to the actors cast to filming in Belgrade for
the right look for D13.
PRODUCTION DIARY is spilt up into 19 on-the-set
episodes that are up to two minutes each which suggest they were originally made for the web.
HDNet: A LOOK AT DISTRICT 13: ULTIMATUM can be skipped due to that it
spoils the entire film while hyping it. A music video is also included on the
disc in addition to several extended and deleted fight scenes.
FINAL ANALYSIS: If you liked DISTRICT 13 or any of the TRANSPORTER films, you’re at home with this film. DISTRICT 13: ULTIMATUM is entertaining popcorn action.
