I read the DRAGONLANCE novels back in Junior High. They caught my attention and I even read the second triology. I loved
the mix of characters. The books were about friendship, love, faith, bridging our differences, and coming together. The
series starts on the world of Krynn about 300 years after the Gods have abandonded the races of Krynn. The forces of evil
have come back to destroy and enslave. Tanis, hal-elven guy, is a on a quest to prove the Gods Of light exist. He is on
his way to Solace to reunite with old friends and gets wrapped up in an important quest that will involve bringing back the
powers of healing and finding the dragonlances. The animated film, DRAGONLANCE: DRAGONS OF AUTUMN TWILIGHT, is a disappointment.
Crappy animation and cliff notes writing (that is dumbed down too) make for an uneasy viewing experience. One of my brother's
friends wanted to see this as a live action film. Heck, I would settle for a decent animated film of the book and this isn't
it. The film just wants me to read the books again.
SPECIAL FEATURES: The extras are scant. Besides previews for IRON MAN and BEOWULF, you only get two minutes of original
test animation and 2 1/2 minutes of Initial Character Design. Disappointing indeed. I want to hear from the people who
wrote the first DRAGONLANCE novels, Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman (I hear that material didn't make the DVD because it was
sent in too late for inclusion).
FINAL ANALYSIS: The first DRAGONLANCE movie is crap. Skip it and hope someone else does DRAGONLANCE justice in animated
or live action form in the future. Read the book again.
