THE INTRUDER is an effective film. It has the distinction of attacking the intergration problems of blacks and whites in the American South, being one of the best Roger Corman films, and early film performance of William Shatner (forver known to many for Captain Kirk). William Shatner pulls off one of the best performances of his career as Adam Cramer who arrives into a Southern town on the eve of intergration of blacks and whites. Adam ignites racial hatred aagain to such fever. He is out to prove something and use people's fears and hate that throwns the town into chaos. Adam will lie and charm like the slyest con man. He'll twist events and even charm the women (even the cute teenage girl and a married woman). Even though Roger Corman watered down the themes at the time, THE INTRUDER hits with such force. It's impact still makes it an engrossing piece of cinema. It is one of the better films on the racial tensions during the time period of the 1960s.

THE INTRUDER could have used some clean-up work because the print used for the transfer has grain and scratches in many places. Also the 1.33:1 format cuts off some of the titles at the end and beginning. I think they were using the full 1.37:1 frame and the 1.33:1 slightly crops the credits. The film does sound good though.

SPECIAL FEATURES:
REMEMBERING THE INTRUDER is the only extra. This featurette has interviews with Roger Corman and William Shatner. They talk about the making of the film and how long it took for it to break even (40 years).

FINAL ANALYSIS: THE INTRUDER is one of the best from Roger Corman featuring a knockout performance from William Shatner.
