NCIS is a fun crime drama. The cast is great and the guest casting is sometimes just fantastic. THE MEAT PUZZLE looks at
Ducky's home life while TWILIGHT brings the shocking end to one of the team (and it was hinted at by accident in the season
1 finale). Do I think the developing relationship between two of the members was wasted because one of the actors didn't want
to do it anymore? Yes. I just wish the season 3 opener didn't threaten to launch into jump the shark territory before again
becoming the show it was. I can't wait to watch the season 3 DVD set because I missed most of the second half of that season.
VIDEO: 1.78:1 (Anamorphic Widescreen)
AUDIO: English 2.0, Spanish 2.0 Dolby Digital Surround
Subtitles: English close captioning
Video and audio is on the same level of quality as the episodes in the season 1 DVD set.
SPECIAL FEATURES:
Two audio commentaries were recorded:
THE BONE YARD with Chas. Floyd Johnson
TWILIGHT with Pauley Perrette, writer John C. Kelley, and Michael Weatherly
TWILIGHT is the more fun of the two tracks. They hint at season 3 while watching the episode. The other track is a little
dry with some info contained in the track.
four featurettes are on disc 6:
INVESTIGATING SEASON 2- Producers, writers, and actors talk about the changes and developments in season 2. How an actor
leaving changed the plot for the end of the season and the growing rerun ratings during the summer.
WHAT'S NEW IN SEASON 2- the technical changes done to season 2 from using Super 8 film with blue streaks for flashbacks,
each act of an episode starting with the last seconds from the end of the act, and more.
THE REAL N.C.I.S.- A look at the real NCIS, how the series is based on lots of real cases, the requirements for being an
agent, and Mark Harmon posed as an NCIS agent during a real NCIS briefing he was asked to sit in. Mark Harmon and NCIS Special
Agent In Charge Richard W. Warmack are interviewed.
LAB TOUR WITH PAULEY PERRETTE- Pauley gives a fun tour and you find out used gloves and old sides (dialogue pages) are
hidden everywhere in the lab set.
FINAL ANALYSIS: NCIS is a step up from season 1 with the shocking ending to season 2 that was foreshadowed in season 1
by accident. I hope Mark Harmon and others contribute to the audio commentaries for future sets. It is a good step in the
right direction with a couple of actors doing tracks. I hope they do more than two tracks per set in the future.
