SILK is the type of drama that left me with mixed feelings. It deals with the Anti-Gravity Unit which is just a cover for
the team leader as he wants to learn how a little boy's ghost is still here. A police detective, Tung, is broughgt into
find out who the little boy was. They find out the boy is connected to other objects and people by a strand of silk. Is
the little boy around as a ghost still because of hate? SILK is a movie that takes several different approaches (whether
it is a drama, police thriller, supernatural thriller, or horror film) and somehow it works most of the time. The dynamic
between Tung and the boy's ghost is the reverse of THE SIXTH SENSE and very terrifying since the bioy can kill you if he touches
you. I might not like everything about it, but SILK was an interesting film to watch. Character development is good whether
it is Hoshimto (the unit's leader), Tung (you get to know about his mother in the hospital, his girlfriend), or the little
boy's ghost. It throws a few twists and amps the tension as SILK races to it's conclusion.
SPECIAL FEATURES: The alternate ending is the better ending while the 11 minutes of deleted scenes add even more complexity
to SILK. THE MAKING OF SILK is a 32 minutes featurette (spilt into 6 chapters). The original theatrical trailer is also
included to a really lame outtakes reel.
Tartan Asia Extreme Previews: THE GHOST, NATURAL CITY, SHUTTER, and others. I do wish they get rid of the forced Asia
Extreme trailer before the main menu (enough is enough).
FINAL ANALYSIS: SILK is an interesting and flawed thriller. Check it out.
