PREMISE: Stargate Command send a team to another galaxy to take control of Atlantis as an outpost for Earth. The team lead
by Dr. Elizabeth Weir and Lt. Colonel Sheppard face an ancient threat that has been awaken- The Wraith (an old enemy of the
Ancients). The end of season one brought assistance from Earth in the form of the starship Daedalus. Season 2 leaves off
where Atlantis being betrayed by an alliance they set up with some of the Wraith.
ANALYSIS: STARGATE ATLANTIS exploded with season 3. After the uneven writing of season 2, season 3 features an old foe stepping
into the world of STARGATE ATLANTIS for the first time- the Replicators (who feature in four episodes during the season).
Also the season finale, FIRST STRIKE, sets up the fourth season with one hell of a cliffhanger. By the casting news for
season 4 and a character death in season 3 (do main characters ever stay dead in sci-fi shows?), season 4 gears up to be as
interesting and great as season 3. The third season develops the characters even more and features a few characters from
STARGATE SG-1 (General O'Neill, Colonel Carter).
